Theatre and Musical Theatre Through the Ages

The Chicago Academy for the Arts Departments of Theatre and Musical Theatre present a two-week summer program for students entering 7th, 8th, and 9th grades focusing on professional training in acting, voice (both singing and speaking), and dance and/or stage movement. In addition, students may have the opportunity to work with The Academy’s faculty on various technical aspects of the theatre. The program will culminate in a presentation of material on the final day.
Program attendees will spend their days working in specific Theatre and Musical Theatre related workshops including, Shakespeare, Solo and Group Singing, Musical Theatre Dance, and Voice & Diction. Chosen material will include scenes and songs from The Department’s professional training curriculums and may include works by William Shakespeare, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Leonard Bernstein, Cole Porter, and others.
